Under the guidance of Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi, Santhigiri Ashram has undertaken pioneering initiatives in agriculture and sustainable farming. A landmark project was the inauguration of the High-Tech Farming Project on June 6, 2012, a State Government-supported initiative promoting modern and eco-friendly farming practices, while blending traditional wisdom with contemporary methods.
To encourage home-based cultivation, the Ashram collaborated with the leading Malayalam daily Malayala Manorama to launch a reward program for the best home vegetable gardens. This initiative, offering a cash award of INR 1,00,000, recognizes and empowers grassroots agricultural efforts, fostering self motivation and sustainable living among families.
In 2005, the Ashram, together with the Government of Kerala, introduced the program “A Herbal Garden in the School and One at My Homestead Too,” implemented across schools statewide. This initiative educates students on herbal cultivation, environmental awareness, and food security, reflecting the Ashram’s commitment to energy healing, spiritual life, and ecological balance. These projects harmoniously integrate modern farming practices with life lessons drawn from holistic and spiritual teachings.
